What are Wrinkle relaxing injections?
While results may vary from person to person, anti-wrinkle injections are one of the UK’s most popular aesthetic treatments for the reduction of visible wrinkles. They are commonly referred to as BotoxTM’ , short for Botulinum toxin, which is a naturally occurring protein that causes the muscles of the face to relax, consequently smoothing out wrinkles.
How does it work?
Wrinkle relaxing injections are relatively quick treatments offering demonstrable results, used by thousands of men and women around the UK every year. Wrinkles are made less visible by relaxation of facial muscles, and the result is younger looking skin.
Is it safe?
Botulinum toxin has been in medical use for more than four decades, and it is administered in such a way that it only affects your muscles and sweat glands – it does not reach any other part of the body. As long as it is administered by a qualified medical professional, the risks are extremely minimal.
Should I have anti-wrinkle injections?
Anti-wrinkle injections are likely to be recommended if you want to reduce forehead lines, frown lines or wrinkles around your eyes.
Tell me about the treatment
Your aesthetician will make a series of small injections into the muscles of your face in the areas to be treated; this takes just a few minutes. Natalie’s Botulinum toxin of choice is Bocouture or Azzulure.
Will it hurt?
You will experience mild discomfort from the needle, and maybe a little soreness in the injection site straight after treatment, but this shouldn’t last very long.
Will I have to change my plans for the whole day?
We recommend you avoid taking any strenuous exercise for a day after treatment, and avoid saunas as well as having any other facial treatments.
Is the effect immediate?
It can take between 4 and 10 days for the improvements in the appearance of your wrinkles to show.
What areas can benefit from an wrinkle relaxing injection?
Wrinkle Relaxing treatments are most effective when used to reduce the signs of ageing in the following places:
- Between the eyes
- Sides of the eyes
- Bunny Lines
How long do the effects of an wrinkle relaxing treatment last?
The results usually last for around four months, although this may vary by individual, after which you may wish to return for another treatment.
Are wrinkle relaxing treatments the only option for people who want to get rid of their wrinkles?
Not at all, there are various options that can be discussed at your consultation.
Before you undergo any injectable treatment, you will be invited for a FREE consultation session with Natalie who will help you determine which treatment is suitable for you.
What side effects are possible?
You may experience some mild, short-lived side effects of treatment, the most common of which are:
- Mild bruising to the injection site
- Mild headaches for up to 24 hours shortly after treatment
Are there any contra-indications?
